KCDC ဟ့ၣ်နီၤလီၤတၢ်သိၣ်လိဘၣ်ဃးတၢ်ဟ့ၣ်ကူၣ်ဟ့ၣ်ဖး (counseling) ဒီးတၢ်ကူစါယါဘျါဘၣ်ဃး တၢ်အီသံးအီဂာ် ဒီးတၢ်သူကသံၣ်မူၤဘှီး (chemical dependency treatment) ဆူပှၤကညီ တၢ်အိၣ်ဖှိၣ်ခိၣ်နၢ်ဒီး ကသံၣ်ကသီပှၤကျိာ်ထံတၢ်တဖၣ်အအိၣ် ဒ်သိးကမၤဒိၣ်ထီၣ်အါထီၣ်အတၢ်သ့တၢ်ဘၣ်ဒီး တၢ်သ့ၣ်ညါနၢ်ပၢၢ်အဂီၢ်န့ၣ်လီၤ. လီၢ်ခံကတၢၢ်တမံၤ, KCDC ဟ့ၣ်နီၤလီၤဆူၣ်ချ့တၢ်ကူၣ်ဘၣ်ကူၣ်သ့လၢ အလီၤပလိာ်လိာ်သးဒီးတၢ်ဆဲးတၢ်လၤလၢဘၣ်ဃး တၢ်အီသံးအီဂာ်ဒီးတၢ်သူကသံၣ်မူၤးဘှီးအဂ့ၢ်အကျိၤ န့ၣ်လီၤ.

KOM provides education, referrals, and case management for Karen youth and adults facing addiction, mental health, and isolation.

Youth Chemical Dependency Program
The Youth Chemical Dependency Program supports Karen youth struggling with addiction and alcohol, by providing prevention education, referrals, and case management. The program serves middle and high school students ages 12 through 18.
Prevention education highlights the negative effects of drugs and alcohol. Prevention education takes place in schools, churches, and Buddhist monasteries.
The Youth Chemical Dependency Program also refers youth to health care providers and treatment centers. We now have three full-time youth case managers at KOM who support youth with their individual cases.

Partners to the Youth Chemical Dependency Program include the St. Paul Public Schools, St. Paul Police, Maplewood Police, Ramsey County Youth Diversions, Karen churches, Buddhist Temples, M Health Fairview Treatment Center, and other community partners.
Karen Culture Brokers
We also partner with M Health Fairview’s culture broker program for adults and youth facing mental health challenges, isolation, and substance use. Placed at KOM, we have two Karen Culture Brokers: Lwepaw Nwe Kacher, and Lah Tha Pwee.
Clara Tunwin, KOM’s Program Director for Community Health and Social Services, said Karen Culture Brokers “play an important role in the community connecting community members to services, resources, and guiding them through difficult situations.”
