Lah Tha Pwee was born in a Thai refugee camp, where she lived for 11 years before moving to the United States in the summer of 2008. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2019 at Metropolitan State University and is deeply committed to supporting immigrant and refugee communities.

In December 2019, Lah joined the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM) as a Youth and Family Coach, where she advocated for, supported, and mentored newly arrived refugee and immigrant youth. In 2022, she advanced to the role of Youth Programs and Partnerships Manager at KOM. She later chose to leave this position to work more directly with the Karen community, where her passion lies.

Currently, Lah serves as a Karen Culture Broker with M Health Fairview, based at the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM). In this role, she helps Karen community members navigate the mental health and court systems, provides family support, addresses specific needs, and works to bridge gaps in services. Lah earned her Master of Social Work degree in 2025, driven by her strong belief in the vital role social workers play in her community. This degree enhances her ability to serve effectively and strengthens her professional credibility.
