76th Commemoration of Karen Martyrs’ Day

This year’s Karen Martyrs’ Day ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 15th 2026 from 9:30am – 4:00pm at Ebenezer Karen Baptist Church in Maplewood, MN. This year’s event marks the 76th commemoration and will include the main ceremony honoring martyrs followed by a community lunch and song performances.

All are welcome to honor the history of this day which commemorates the anniversary of the death of Saw Ba U Gyi (one of the early leaders of the Karen National Union) in 1950. This day also honors all who have fought for the Karen in remembrance of the Karen resistance.
