
As part of the State of Minnesota Refugee Resettlement Network, KOM serves new arrivals from a variety of backgrounds who have been in the U.S. under 5 years. Our staff work with individuals, families, and youth to provide access to employment, wraparound social services, and educational engagement. In our new arrivals programs, KOM staff speak Amharic, Burmese, Dari, English, Karen, Oromo, Pashto, Spanish, and Urdu.
The Family Resource Connections program connects refugees who have lived in the U.S. less than 5 years with a variety of social services to help meet their basic needs and integrate into the community.
The Employment and Career Supports program helps newly arrived refugees who have lived in the U.S. less than 5 years find stable employment.
KOM also offers a Family Education Supports Program, along with ten other partner agencies, that helps newly arrived refugee students succeed in K-12 and beyond.
New arrivals programming is funded by the Resettlement Programs Office of the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services. KOM is part of the Refugee Resettlement Network, which consists of agencies that work together to serve new arrivals from a variety of backgrounds who have been in the U.S. under 5 years.
