KOM’s CDL Careers programs are designed to prepare you for careers that require a commercial driver’s license. We offer:
- Highway Construction CDL Training: Classes begin in October 2025. This training will especially focus on preparing you for work in the construction trades as a CDL driver. Completing all components of the program will take approximately 5 months. This training is funded by a grant from MN Department of Transportation.
- General CDL Training: Classes will be available in 2026. You will complete 7 weeks of permit prep and career preparation at Roseville Adult Learning Center and then complete your behind-the-wheel training at Dakota County Technical College. Completing the program will take about two months, which may not be consecutive.

Attending an information session is the first step to enrolling in a CDL Career Training. You can join us on any one of the following dates to learn more about our upcoming highway construction training:
- Monday, September 22, at 9 a.m. at KOM
- Wednesday, September 24, at 9 a.m. at KOM
- Monday, September 29, at 9 a.m. at KOM
- Wednesday, October 1, at 9 a.m. at KOM

To qualify for any CDL program, you must meet all of the following:
- Be age 18 or older and not currently enrolled in high school
- Be a Minnesota resident
- Have proof of U.S. work authorization
- Identify as immigrant, refugee, or person of color
- Be able to communicate proficiently in English
- Be able to attend all class sessions
- Ready to start a new CDL job in the next 6 months
- Have a valid MN driver’s license and a driving record that will not limit your ability to get a CDL and become employed (You must have had a U.S. driver’s license for at least 2 years. If you already have a CDL Permit, it must be issued from the state of Minnesota.)
- Pass a DOT physical exam and drug test (coordinated and paid for by the program. Note: drug test will screen for THC and though use is legal in MN, use is prohibited for CDL drivers or federally)
For Highway Construction CDL Training, you must also:
- Have high school diploma/GED
