Eligibility

To qualify for the Apprentice Ready Diploma Program, you must meet all of the following: 

Be age 18 or older and not currently enrolled in high school.

Be a Minnesota resident.

Have U.S. work authorization.

Be able to attend all class sessions.

Be able to communicate in English. 

And meet at least one of the following: 

Have a low income (at or below 200% of the federal poverty level).

Be an immigrant or refugee, speak a first language other than English, did not finish high school in the U.S., or had your education interrupted.

Identify as African American, African Immigrant, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latine, or Native American.

KOM Apprentice Ready+ Interest Form

Apprentice Ready+ is a hands-on training program designed to prepare you for careers in building trades and other apprenticeship opportunities. We offer: 

  • Diploma Program (8 Months): In partnership with the Roseville Adult Learning Center, this is a competency-based adult diploma option for those who do not yet have a high school diploma. 
  • Short-Term Training (8-week trainings): Available in summer and winter for individuals who have already earned a high school diploma.

Attending an information session is the first step to enrolling in Apprentice Ready. You can join us on any of the following dates: 

  • Tuesday, August 26, at 9 a.m. at KOM 
  • Friday, August 29, at 9 a.m. at KOM 
  • Tuesday September 2, at 9 a.m. at KOM 
  • Friday September 5, at 9 a.m. at KOM

Yearlong Diploma Program

If you do not yet have a U.S. high school diploma, this 8-month program will assist you with the first step to a career in the building trades. You will learn in a classroom and through projects, using hand and power tools. You will visit union training centers and construction sites to learn more about career options in the trades. The class is especially designed for people who are learning English as an adult.

After you have completed the training, KOM Career Counselors will support you in achieving employment. 

Dates: September 2025– May 2026 (8 months)
Time: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Roseville, MN

Short-Term Training 

If you already have a high school diploma and want to get into building trades work, our short-term programs are for you. 

In Winter and Summer 2026, KOM intends to offer training in collaboration with two training centers: Finishing Trades Institute—Upper Midwest and the North Central States Carpenters Union.  

Winter: Finishing Trades Pathway 

Watch for training dates to be shared in January 2026. 

Summer: Carpenters Pathway  

Watch for dates to be posted for training dates in June 2026.
