In July the KOM office in Marshall partnered with Youth Intervention Programs Association (YIPA) and the United Community Actions Partnership (UCAP) to host a training session for local youth workers. About thirty youth workers showed up to hear a diverse panel of individuals speak about the challenges and opportunities they have encountered and the strategies they have used in order to receive the help they need. Speakers at the session included Craig Wilson from South West Health and Human Services who spoke about the experiences he has had with fostered young adults, and UCAP’s Immigration Navigator Samira Sheik and Homelessness Navigator Kou Thou who shared personal experiences and strategies that they used in their careers. Overall the training session was a success and the young workers who attended gained a lot of new skills to help them be successful in the workplace.
