Eh Ta Lar came from Mae La Oo refugee camp in Thailand in 2011. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Psychology from Concordia College Moorhead, he then interned with the New American Consortium as the refugee/immigrant case manager. In that role, he provided various case management services to the refugee/immigrant population.

Currently, Eh Ta Lar joins KOM as a Youth Case Manager to help serve the Karen community. As a Karen refugee, he understands the struggles and barriers that they face in a new country and community. He recognizes that many Karen families in the community still need various services and assistance and wants to give back to the community that shaped him. He is excited to work with vulnerable Karen youth dealing with mental health, substance use, and other issues. His goal is to walk with them and serve them with understanding, open-mindedness, compassion, and care. He looks forward to being a person they can reach out for conversation, updates, etc., and be seen as a trusted mentor or brother they can seek help from.
