I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and moved to the U.S. at the age of 8. I recently graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Arts in Community Health and a minor in Psychology. Prior to this position, I gained experience with KOM through youth tutoring in the after-school homework help program and as a Community Health Intern. In this role, I had the opportunity to work with youth, lead and co-facilitate health workshops, assist clients with referrals, and provide translation and interpreting services to bridge language barriers.

Additionally, my work with the Urban Village Klub and my experience as a tutor for students with academic struggles have reinforced my ability to support youth in setting goals and overcoming challenges in both academic performance and personal development. I also have a strong understanding of addiction and recovery and am dedicated to helping youth and their families navigate the stigma and challenges of the recovery process. Over the course of two semesters, I raised awareness among my peers about the challenges of addiction, as well as how they uniquely affect marginalized populations. I am committed to empowering youth and supporting them in overcoming complex situations to reach their full potential.

The youth case manager position caught my attention because it aligns with my passion for helping youth facing addiction and related challenges. I conducted research and gave a presentation on fentanyl awareness, educating my classmates and professor about its impact, especially within the Karen community, by sharing real-life stories. Additionally, I consistently incorporated the struggles of the Karen community into my school assignments, using these opportunities to raise awareness and promote a better understanding of the challenges they face. Over the course of two semesters, I raised awareness among my classmates about the Karen people, ensuring they gained a deeper understanding of our community. These experiences have strengthened my dedication to supporting youth and addressing the issues they face.
