Salary: | $76,000-$84,000 annually |

Position Summary: KOM seeks an experienced bilingual professional with a demonstrated record of community engagement to lead our Health and Human Services programs. The Program Director will lead staff and community partners to design and implement programs in the areas of Caregiver, MNsure Outreach and Navigation, Civic Engagement, Weaving, Youth Behavioral Health, and Community Health Education. As a member of KOM’s senior leadership team, this person will also have important roles in building relationships across sectors, representing the organization and community priorities, and building a healthy and inclusive work environment for all employees. Responsibilities include:
Program Development:
- Create annual work plans and goals for each program in collaboration with program staff and partners
- Gather data, research, and community input to guide program planning
- Build and sustain partnerships with other organizations to achieve program goals
- Assist grant-writing staff with proposal development and budgeting
Program Implementation and Evaluation:
- Ensure program staff have the written work plans, training, SOPs and resources needed to implement program activities
- Meet bi-weekly with program teams to monitor progress and discuss challenges
- Coordinate translation with staff based on the program’s needs and review translated documents (English-S’gaw Karen)
- Review and update curriculum and materials regularly to make sure they are always up to date
- Monitor case notes, outcome data, and program expenses for contract compliance and reporting
- Create and manage program evaluation strategies to achieve intended outcomes
- Review invoices prepared by the bookkeeper and submit them based on the contract’s requirement
- Submit contract revision requests and grant reports as required by funders
Employee Supervision and Development:
- Directly supervise three Program Supervisors, including regular check-ins, quarterly/annual reviews, and timecard and expense approvals
- Support Program Supervisors to oversee direct services staff
- Create job descriptions and facilitate hiring process for new program staff with office manager and Co-Executive Directors
- Coordinate staff onboarding and ongoing training with Program Supervisors and Administrative Team
- Coach program staff to develop their professional skills and solve challenges in their work
Organizational Leadership
- Attend weekly leadership team meetings and bi-weekly all-staff meetings
- Support all-staff activities including training, retreats, and employee recognition
- Support public outreach and advocacy initiatives as requested by Co-Executive Directors
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and type fluently in English and S’gaw Karen. Proficiency in Pwo Karen, Karenni, or Burmese is beneficial but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree (American or international) in public health, social work, human services, or related field highly desired.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in social work, healthcare, public health, or human services, preferably with people from Burma and/or other refugee populations
- High level of competency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and database applications
- Must be able to travel within the Twin Cities to attend partner meetings and community events

- Demonstrated success in building effective teams and coaching team members to set and achieve goals
- Good listener with the ability to gather input from a variety of perspectives and use this information to strengthen services
- Strong relationship-building skills with Karen community leaders and partner organizations
- Desire to seek opportunities to learn about issues and topics affecting the community and willingness to attend training whenever they are available.
- Experience implementing grant-funded programs and understanding program-specific regulations
- Experience in monitoring data and participant feedback to document program outcomes
- Demonstrated knowledge about the cultures of different refugee groups from Burma, especially as it relates to physical and mental health
- Experience with medical translation and interpreting (English-S’gaw Karen)
- Ability to type in Karen using Karen Unicode, or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and/or human services agencies in Minnesota
- Strong public speaking skills to advocate for community priorities and share the organization’s impact
