Apprentice Ready+ is a hands-on training program designed to prepare you for careers in building trades and other apprenticeship opportunities. We offer:
- Short-Term Training: Available in summer and winter for individuals who have already earned a high school diploma.
- Diploma Program: In partnership with the Roseville Adult Learning Center, an 8-month competency-based Adult diploma option for those who do not yet have a high school diploma.

8-week Summer Training
In summer 2025, KOM is partnering with two training centers: Finishing Trades Institute—Upper Midwest and the North Central States Carpenters Union. Choose the training path that best aligns with your career goals and get ready to build your future in the trades!
A U.S. High School diploma is required for participation in these short-term programs.
Finishing Trades Pathway
May 19 through July 11
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
At the Finishing Trades Institute, you’ll gain hands-on experience in key skills used in the finishing trades industry. You’ll also explore various craft options within the industry, such as:
- Commercial Painter
- Industrial Painter
- Drywall Finisher
- Glazier (installing glass)
- Glassworker (manufacturing glass)
Carpenters Pathway
June 30 through August 22
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
At the Carpenters Union training center, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a variety of carpentry skills. You’ll be introduced to additional craft specialties including:
- Floor Covering
- Cabinet Making
- Millwrights (working with large machinery)
- Pile Drivers (building foundations for bridges and large structures)
Yearlong Diploma Program
If you do not yet have a U.S. high school diploma, this 8-month program will assist you with the first step to a career in the building trades. You will learn in a classroom and through projects, using hand and power tools. You will visit union training centers and construction sites to learn more about career options in the trades. The class is especially designed for people who are learning English as an adult.
After you have completed the training, KOM Career Counselors will support you in achieving employment.
Dates: September 2025– May 2026 (8 months)
Time: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Roseville Adult Learning Center, 1910 County B Road W, Room A232
Eligibility
- Must be over 18 and not enrolled in high school. (For short-term program, must already have obtained HS Diploma.)
- Able to commit to showing up to class every day.
- Resident of Minnesota.
- Have US work authorization.
- Able to communicate in English.
- Interest in a job in the trades and must have barriers to entering the industry, such as learning English, or lack of a driver’s license.
