69th Anniversary of Karen Martyr’s Day
August 10, 2019 - August 11, 2019
Join us and the whole Minnesota Karen community to celebrate the 69th Anniversary of Karen Martyr’s Day on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th, 2019. There will be a main ceremony on Saturday morning, sports competitions throughout both days, plenty of food vendors, and more!
This year, the event will be held at Hazelwood Park in Maplewood, MN.
Karen Martyr’s Day is officially on August 12 and commemorates the anniversary of the death of Saw Ba U Gyi (the first president of the Karen National Union) in 1950. Others who have fought for the Karen are also honored in remembrance of the Karen resistance.
